21st Century Learning Matters

The question posed for this assignment is "How would you change education to address the need of students"?

One of the greatest needs is for more funding to be allocated to education. The graded schools are in dire need of funding. It is our youngest children that need to be served first. The children don't have access to all of the tools they need. Digital textbooks, computers and other electronic teaching aids offer a solution of connecting students to a greater source of information and stimulation to reach the higher goals our rapidly evolving society requires.

The saying "No Child Left Behind" will be more complicated as society becomes more complicated. There will not be any easy fixes. We can only hope that the education system can evolve as fast as the evolution of the "World Wide Web".

Did you Know

I just finished watching the u-tube video "Did you Know?" I was shocked by this statement, "In 2006 the US had 1.3 million college graduates, India had 3.1 million and China had 3.3million. All India college graduates speak English. China is predicted to be the largest English speaking nation by the year 2016." The intent of this video was to stimulate talk among educators to come up with suggestions on how to educate our children. The computer age has changed the way we learn and convey what we have learned all over the world. Once our personal computing devices have the capability of regenerating their own power source we will truly have the power to hold the world in the palm of our hand. I am looking forward to learning how to be more efficient using my computer power tools. I expect this course to remove a lot of my confusion as to how to get the most out of my laptop and other computers.

I currently use use my lap top to interface with my digital camera and sewing machine. I also enjoy using "face book." Face book to me is like being able to talk to your neighbor across the back yard fence. It gives you a bigger backyard.

Purpose of the Blog

This is an individual blog by me, "grammyg." The main purpose of this blog is to record my process through my CIS 100 class. I am currently overwhelmed by the amount of time it is taking to access all of the necessary web sites. I had to delete about 458 e-mails from my student e-mail acoount. The mail box is clear and I have been e-mailing my instructors. My Blackboard account is set up and I have completed some tasks on it. My biggest problem so far was that my enternet server faded and I lost my connection. This is not an occasional problem. The loss of connection seems to be weather related. I lost my connection when I was doing my pre-test. The allowed time for the test was one hour. Due to my failed connection my recorded time was 10+ hours. My blog addre
